Premiering today on Vice's online platform Noisey, the video for Laid Back recalls heady summer days, warm, starry-eyed nights and Rat Boy's typical 90s nostalgia. Taken from Jordan Cardy's forthcoming debut album, Scum, and featuring guitar work from Blur's Graham Coxen, Laid Back was shot on an old Sony VX home video camera with fisheye bayonet lenses to recreate that home movie aesthetic, evoking a time of careless childhood summers and the cheeky bravado of Britpop. As usual, it wouldn't be a genuine Rat Boy video if we didn't do something dangerous. This time around, a custom-painted caravan formed the core of an almighty bonfire in the centre of a field - the perfect visual heading into summer festival season.
