A city. Present day. People live side-by-side in relative harmony. Until one night some of the residents experience something. A vision? A miracle? Perhaps a hallucination? Nobody knows. The event forces people into contact with one another as some race to claim it as a religious sign or use it for political purposes, while others circle the wagons and head even deeper into isolation.
The Desert is a six-part TV mini-series developed and produced by Sunglass Films in association with Jokers Pack Productions, Initiative Motion Pictures and Chimera Films. Currently in post-production, the series is set for release in quarter 3 of 2017 via digital distribution.
The Desert was shot on location in Essex and North London across two weeks during summer 2016. The ensemble cast's combined credits include 24, Charlie Brooker's Weekly Wipe, Eastenders, Our Shining Sword and Black Mirror. Screenwriter Lydia Yeoman also co-directed the series (her first foray into screen direction) whilst six months pregnant.
